My work is based on a personal
reflection, it describes a journey of self-discovery, through identity
and location. The work is sited around the three places which I am
connected to; London, Kerry, and Dublin.
Initial
research began with photographing the relevant areas of concern, this
helped in the exploration of ideas as did using Photoshop as an editing
tool and as a means of creating new images.
Transfer
printing created a base for the finished pieces and allowed for the
introduction of paint, and experimenting with both opaque and
transparent glazes.
Colour is
especially important in my work, as it is in contrast to the seriousness
of the black and white imagery from the photography. The pop of colour
comes from paint and glazes used. These conflicting elements show the
different sides of my personality.
