Research of a photographer for Alphabet Project:

The photographer I researched as part of the Alphabet project was Rankin. I chose to use this series of work to influence my project because of the contrast in the red laces against the black and white photography. As you can see from the rest of my blog I am a little obsessed with this colour scheme and it immediately caught my eye when researching. This series of photographs is from the Nike Red Lace Campaign  to help fight AIDS in Africa, all profits from the sale of this product goes to help this well deserved cause. Rankin's Behind the scenes of the Nike shoot can be found (here).
As stated on the Nike website:
"Lace Up Saves Lives
How it works
1. You purchase (NIKE)RED laces.
2. Nike is contributing 100% of its profits from the sale to the Global Fund and to soccer-based programs that help fight AIDS in Africa.
3. Funds are received by programs like Grassroots Soccer, which uses football as a framework to teach youths how to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.
4. Funds are also contributed to The Global Fund to fund HIV/AIDS programs that support the purchase of lifesaving Antiretroviral (ARV) medication, training of medical staff, HIV testing and treatment to help prevent the transmission of the virus from pregnant mothers to their babies.
5. Life-saving knowledge is received by the next generation in Africa.
Since its inception, (RED)™ partners and events have generated over $135 million to the Global Fund and the number keeps growing."

Anyway heres some photography that I've done recently in practice for the project and also a few from Paddy's day in Dublin, i won't pretend to be an expert but hopefully someone out there will enjoy it.

A picture says a thousand words!

Well I rely wish it did, I'd never have to do an essay again! OK time to try and upload a picture... this is a photograph I took during the summer for my Postcard Project. Its of Inch beach, at home in Co. Kerry. Its on my door step and yet I never rely take the time to appreciate it so I was delighted when I had the excuse during this project!
